Painting is definitely my passion and Hawaii is full of lush, rich textures and colors and light.
Each time I take a walk in the hills above Waimea or dive into the ocean along the Kohala Coast,
I see something that intrigues me and invites me to look more closely.
When I'm outside, wandering around, I carry my small watercolor kit around to make quick sketches,
capture the light, remember a moment. Back at my studio, I prefer to work in oil using an alla prima technique.
The important thing for me is to capture that special moment and communicate my excitement to the viewer.
